At its 20th session on October 30, the Da Nang People's Council agreed to increase the total investment for Phase 1 of the Software Park No. 2 project to over 1.4 trillion VND.
According to the submission from the City People's Committee, the Software Park No. 2 project was approved to attract both domestic and international investment, particularly in Da Nang’s information technology sector.
Software Park No. 2 is set to help businesses rapidly access government policies, support startup incubation, and foster the promotion, expansion, and development of the IT market.
The City People's Committee proposed additional necessary components to complete Software Park No. 2, including three ICT buildings: a 20-story ICT tower, and two 8-story towers, ICT1 and ICT2, with a supplementary budget of more than 414 billion VND. This addition raises the total investment to over 1.4 trillion VND, funded from the city's budget.
On October 22, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1238/QD-TTg, approving an expansion of Da Nang's Centralized Information Technology Park, including the Software Park, with an additional 28,573 square meters located in Thuan Phuoc Ward (Hai Chau District).
In a review report presented at the session, the Economic-Budget Committee of the City People's Council emphasized that completing the project and bringing it into operation is essential to meeting the infrastructure needs for developing the city's high-priority economic sector, as per the established objectives.
The council reviewed and approved the feasibility study regarding planning, funding sources, and capital balance capacity.
The City People's Committee has directed relevant units to focus on investing in green spaces, landscapes, and other necessary features. This ensured ecological quality and alignment with the project’s significance, thus enhancing its appeal to investors and accelerating completion by the target year of 2025.
Once operational, Da Nang Software Park No. 2 is expected to create approximately 6,000 direct jobs in IT and digital products. Initially, the project was approved by the City of Da Nang at nearly 800 billion VND under Decision No. 1565/QD-UBND on May 4, 2020, later adjusted to nearly 1 trillion VND.
