(Dan Tri) – VinFast Energy, Marubeni, and Vinpearl have officially commenced commercial operations of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang.
The BESS project, implemented on Hon Tre Island, Nha Trang, within the Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang luxury complex, features a storage capacity of 3.7 MWh.
The project is part of a broader collaboration strategy between Vingroup and Marubeni in the clean energy sector. It marks a significant milestone in the transition to green energy and demonstrates Vingroup's strong commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and fostering a sustainable future.
The BESS system was researched, developed, and manufactured by VinFast Energy, utilizing advanced lithium-ion battery technology with high energy density and liquid cooling systems. These features enhance performance and lifespan, optimize investment costs, and ensure a stable and efficient power supply throughout the system’s lifecycle.
Successfully bringing the project into operation underscores VinFast Energy’s capabilities in researching, developing, and implementing energy solutions that meet international quality and safety standards.
This is also a pioneering three-party collaboration model in which Marubeni acts as the investor, VinFast Energy provides the solutions, and Vinpearl directly utilizes and benefits from BESS. The benefits include load balancing, reduced consumption during peak hours, alleviating pressure on the power grid, and enhancing energy self-sufficiency.
The BESS system also plays a crucial role in supporting Vinpearl’s future integration of solar power systems, increasing the efficiency of renewable energy usage in alignment with Vinpearl’s sustainable development strategy.
Satoru Harada, Senior Executive Director of the Energy Division at Marubeni and project representative, shared: “We are delighted to realize this collaboration with Vingroup through the first project at Vinpearl, featuring BESS manufactured domestically by VinFast Energy.
This project opens a new business opportunity for Marubeni in Vietnam’s market by providing BESS services to production and business facilities, helping them optimize operating costs while promoting green transformation by integrating rooftop solar power as a comprehensive solution. Through this project, we are committed to further investing in the green energy sector in Vietnam.”
Pham Thuy Linh, representing Vingroup, stated: “Through the joint implementation of projects under the broader collaboration strategy, Marubeni and Vingroup reaffirm their commitment to advancing the green energy transition in Vietnam. This project is a meaningful milestone that not only highlights VinFast’s capabilities but also underscores Vinpearl’s green transition commitment and demonstrates Vingroup’s pioneering role in driving energy transformation in Vietnam, spreading sustainable values across multiple fields.”
The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is an advanced energy storage solution widely used globally. It allows for the flexible storage and supply of electricity to meet demand at specific times, particularly effective in storing energy during off-peak hours for use during peak times, thereby reducing pressure on the power grid.
Additionally, BESS can integrate with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, addressing the instability of these energy sources while optimizing the electricity fed into the system. With its outstanding advantages, BESS plays a vital role in the energy transition process, contributing to building a more sustainable and efficient energy system worldwide.
