A subsidiary of Thailand's WHA Group has been approved to invest in the WHA Industrial Zone 2 - Nghe An with a total capital of 1.2 trillion VND.
The investment approval decision for the construction and infrastructure business project of WHA Industrial Zone 2 - Nghe An (part of Nam Cam D Industrial Zone) was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son on December 31. WHA Industrial Zone Nghe An JSC, a member of Thailand's WHA Group, is the investor of this project.
This project covers over 183 hectares, located in Nghi Hung and Nghi Dong communes of Nghi Loc district, with one side bordering National Highway 7C.
The total investment is approximately 1.2 trillion VND, with the investor contributing around 216 billion VND. The industrial zone will operate for 50 years, with a maximum implementation period of 24 months from the date of land handover.
WHA Group also invested in phase one of the WHA Industrial Zone Nghe An project, which spans nearly 500 hectares. This was the Thai conglomerate's first project in Vietnam. Over six years of implementation, phase one has attracted 32 projects with a total registered investment capital of approximately 1.7 billion USD.
Recently, WHA Group has consecutively proposed industrial zone projects spanning hundreds of hectares in Thanh Hoa and Quang Nam provinces. In late November 2024, the group was also approved to invest 55 million USD in an industrial zone in Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa.
A representative of WHA Group stated that the company aims to invest at least 1 billion USD in the next five years to develop eco-friendly and smart industrial zones in Vietnam. The firm expects to attract secondary projects with a total investment exceeding 5 billion USD.
Bordering Vinh City and Cua Lo Town, Nghi Loc district is poised to become an important satellite, forming a hub for high-tech agriculture and industrial zones in the Dong Nam Economic Zone. Under the plan to 2030, the district will prioritize three main pillars: industry-urban development, services-tourism, and agriculture-rural development.
