On the afternoon of January 16, Hai Phong City issued investment registration certificates for five domestic direct investment (DDI) projects totaling 79.42552 trillion VND (approximately 3.394 billion USD) and six foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth 125.65 million USD.

The Trang Cat Urban and Service Area Project, developed by Trang Cat Urban Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation - KBC, will receive an additional capital of 62.746 trillion VND, raising the total to 69.087 trillion VND. The project, approved by Hai Phong City’s People’s Committee in 2010, spans 584.94 hectares in Trang Cat Ward, Hai An District, within the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone.
Additionally, investment certificates were issued for four industrial infrastructure projects:
- The first project is the Nomura-Hai Phong Industrial Park (Phase 2), developed by Hai Phong International Industrial Park JSC. The project aims to construct and operate infrastructure for an eco-industrial park covering 197.16 hectares, with a total investment of 2.78272 trillion VND, located in An Hung, An Hong, and Dai Ban Wards, Hong Bang District.
- The second project is the Vinh Quang Industrial Park (Phase 1) project, led by Idico Vinh Quang JSC. It covers 226.01 hectares and requires a total investment of 3.550804 trillion VND, including 536.178 billion VND in investor equity. The project will be located in Vinh Quang, Cong Hien, and Thanh Luong Communes, Vinh Bao District.
- The third is the Trang Due 3 Industrial Park project, developed by Saigon-Hai Phong Industrial Park JSC. This project spans 652.73 hectares and will be implemented in Truong Tho, Truong Thanh, An Tien, and Bat Trang Communes, An Lao District, with a total investment of 8.0944 trillion VND.
- The fourth is the South Trang Cat Industrial Park project, developed by Vinhomes Industrial Park Investment JSC. It will cover 200.39 hectares in Trang Cat Ward, Hai An District, with a total investment of 2.252671 trillion VND.
The conference also saw the granting of investment registration certificates for six FDI projects, with a total new and additional funding of 125.15 million USD.
- The first project is an automotive parts manufacturing plant by Trakmotive Global Industrial Inc., with an investment of 60 million USD, specializing in producing and distributing automotive components such as drive shafts and wheel axles at the Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park.
- The second project is an agricultural and forestry machinery manufacturing facility by Hogetsu Vietnam Co., Ltd., with an investment of 12.4 million USD, located in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park (Zone 2).
- The third project involves food and beverage ingredient production and processing by Ascent Vietnam Co., Ltd., with an investment of 12.5 million USD, located at DEEP C 2B Industrial Park.
- The fourth project is a household electronics components factory by Hanmiflexible Vina Co., Ltd., with an investment of 10 million USD.
- The fifth project, by Great Eagle Co., Ltd., focuses on manufacturing electronic components and assembling electronic products at Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, with a production capacity of 2,650 tons per year and an investment of 10 million USD.
- The sixth project involves boiler production, with Pourin Vietnam Special Welding Manufacturing Co., Ltd. adding 17.75 million USD to its investment in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park (Zone 1).
Mr Le Trung Kien, head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, stated that Hai Phong is among the top localities in the country for attracting foreign investment. To date, Hai Phong has drawn over 1,000 FDI projects from 42 countries and territories, with a total investment of 33.6 billion USD, and 231 domestic projects valued at 13.7 billion USD. Most investments are concentrated in the manufacturing and processing industries within the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone.
Since January 2021, Hai Phong has attracted 14.5 billion USD in investment, surpassing its 2021 - 2025 target of 12.5 - 15 billion USD. The city has become a hub for major investors, contributing to global value chains, with notable projects from LG Group, SK Group and the VinFast automotive complex.
At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also handed over the decision to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone to the Hai Phong People's Committee. The city also honored 77 businesses and 2 international organizations for their exceptional contributions in 2024.
In 2024, Hai Phong’s business community overcame challenges and achieved substantial growth. The city currently hosts over 23,000 active enterprises, including over 3,300 newly established ones, marking a 5.3% increase compared to the previous year.
