Binh Dinh seeks economic and tourism cooperation opportunities with UAE

The leader of Binh Dinh province is calling for investment from UAE businesses while also hoping to expand connections for tourism development and cultural exchange.

This information was announced in a meeting between Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Bader Almatrooshi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of UAE to Vietnam, on August 26 in Hanoi.

Mr. Hoang introduced an overview of Binh Dinh’s potential, advantages, and development orientation, especially in areas attracting investment. He emphasized that the province has invested in improving the transportation infrastructure and industrial parks, notably Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh, which offers full utilities and services. The province has also prepared clean land funds and favorable investment support policies to meet the needs of foreign investors.

The leader of Binh Dinh province expects that Mr. Bader Almatrooshi will serve as a bridge to introduce UAE businesses and investors to Binh Dinh. The province aims to promote sectors such as seaports, logistics, industry, technology, renewable energy, and urban development.

The province also hopes that Mr. Almatrooshi will support the establishment of friendly cooperative relations, promote tourism activities and cultural exchanges with UAE localities. Mr. Hoang said that in December, the province plans to organize a delegation to the UAE to promote cooperation opportunities.

Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi said that the cooperative relationship between the UAE and Vietnam is developing positively. In 2024, the two countries will celebrate the 31st anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and launch negotiations on the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. He supports Binh Dinh's upcoming visit and promises to select suitable partners to introduce to the province.

Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Abu Dhabi Chamber). The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee hopes these units will support the province in connecting with businesses in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. He also requested support in promoting tourism and introducing the province's OCOP products in the UAE.

Ms. Latifa Hamoud Al Ameri, Head of Business Partnership Department of Abu Dhabi Chamber, said that many member businesses are interested in investing in Binh Dinh, especially in high technology, information technology, and industry. SCCI and Abu Dhabi Chamber affirmed they would support the province's visit in December and facilitate bilateral investment promotion.

In 2023, Binh Dinh attracted 6 newly registered FDI projects with a total investment of over 1,099 billion VND (equivalent to 46.2 million USD), and adjusted 5 projects with a total increased capital of 46.5 million USD. To date, the province has 91 FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 1.19 billion USD. Regarding domestic investment, the province attracted 69 new projects with a total registered capital of 13,709 billion VND.

In 2024, Binh Dinh aims to attract 100 new projects, including both FDI and domestic investment. Regarding tourism, Binh Dinh welcomed 5.6 million visitors in the first half of the year, with revenue exceeding 15,000 billion VND.
