VinFast Auto has officially held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for its electric vehicle assembly plant project in Subang, West Java, Indonesia. Building the plant in one of Southeast Asia's most promising electric vehicle markets will create job opportunities for local workers, affirming VinFast's strong determination to expand in the regional market and its commitment to promoting Indonesia's electric vehicle industry.
The VinFast electric vehicle assembly plant will be built in Subang, a key new industrial city in Indonesia, with an initial investment of approximately USD 200 million. The VinFast plant is expected to have a production capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year and will feature main areas such as the body shop, assembly shop, paint shop, testing area, and more.
The VinFast plant is expected to become operational from Q4/2025 and will produce the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 models for the Indonesian market.
The project will also create thousands of job opportunities for local residents, increase the proportion of skilled labor, significantly contribute to the economic and social development of the local community, and play a crucial role in promoting green transportation in Indonesia.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, General H. Moeldoko, Chief of the Presidential Staff of Indonesia, stated: "The presence of the VinFast plant in Subang will not only positively impact the local economy but also create many new job opportunities and improve the community's livelihood. The Indonesian government strongly encourages foreign investment, especially in the automotive industry. We believe that VinFast's presence will bring technological innovation and the knowledge to enhance the competitiveness of the national automotive industry."
VinFast has rapidly implemented business activities and increased brand recognition in Indonesia. The company has officially launched sales of two electric SUV models, the VF 5 and VF e34, with left-hand drive versions, opened dealership stores, adopted flexible sales policies, and pioneered the introduction of a unique battery rental policy to the market.
