The Central Committee of the Communist Party has reached a basic consensus on restarting the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project and continuing research on Vietnam's nuclear power program.

This decision was a key topic discussed during the Central Committee meeting on the morning of November 25.

According to a communiqué from the Party Central Office, the Central Committee agreed in principle to revive the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project and proceed with studies on Vietnam’s nuclear power program.

The objective is to ensure national energy security, achieve socio-economic development goals, strengthen scientific and technological capabilities, and promote sustainable national growth.

The Central Committee tasked the Politburo with directing relevant agencies and localities to conduct research and develop a proposal for advancing nuclear power in Vietnam in the coming period.

In the immediate term, the committee emphasized the need to continue studies on the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant Project and submit findings to the appropriate authorities for review and decision-making.

In his closing remarks at the Central Committee meeting, General Secretary To Lam stated that the committee had reached a strong consensus on resuming Vietnam’s nuclear power program and conducting further research on the Ninh Thuan project.

The General Secretary underscored the importance of this initiative for developing the national energy infrastructure to meet the country’s growth needs. He stressed the urgency of ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental protection in all related efforts.

The Central Committee also directed the Politburo to lead agencies in implementing comprehensive solutions to upgrade the national energy infrastructure, addressing the demands of Vietnam’s evolving development context.
