Vietnam Airlines signs MoUs worth $450 million with Chinese partners

Within the framework of the official visit of Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to China, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Chinese partners from April 9 to 11, with a total value of nearly $450 million.

Specifically, Vietnam Airlines and Saigontourist signed and awarded the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of aviation-tourism with Chinese partners Shanghai Boxi Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Cosmos Travel International Co.LTD.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines and its partners will cooperate in providing charter flight services, coordinating communication and promotion, organizing travel events, researching new charter routes, and exchanging operating experiences.

Vietnam's airline also signed a MoU on cooperation with Shanghai Van Quan Aviation Service Co., Ltd. in the field of freight transport, including agreements on coordination in the implementation of freight transport, logistics operations, service promotion, and search for investment opportunities related to freight infrastructure.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines will hand over a memorandum of cooperation with Guangzhou VN Holidays aviation service company on renting flights to Vietnam.

Also on April 10, Vietnam Airlines announced the plan to put into operation the Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft on the route between Vietnam - China. Specifically, from June 2024, Vietnam Airlines will add wide-body aircraft operation on routes between Hanoi and Shanghai, Beijing, in addition to Airbus A321 aircraft. From July 2024, Vietnam Airlines will operate wide-body aircraft for all flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating 5 routes between Vietnam and China, with a total of 33 round-trip flights per week. The airline has just marked the 30th anniversary of opening the route and welcomed the 100,000th flight on the Chinese route. In 3 decades, Vietnam Airlines has transported more than 11 million passengers and more than 166,000 tons of goods between the two countries, actively contributing to diplomatic relations as well as economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
