On August 4, 2023, the board of directors of Wistron Corp, a Taiwanese electronics company (China), one of Apple's top three iPhone manufacturers, approved a resolution to invest $24.5 million in a newly founded manufacturing firm in Vietnam in order to grow the company.

Specifically, Wistron will pour capital into Wistron Technology Co., Ltd (Vietnam). This is the main factory providing Graphics Processing Unit modules for Nvidia - a technology company from the US.

Wistron's 2023 semi-annual financial report said that the company's net profit in the second quarter of 2023 soared to TWD 3.25 billion (about 1.03 billion USD), while this figure for the first quarter was TWD 174 million (about 5.48 million USD).

Earnings per share rose from $0.0019 to $0.037. However, this figure is still lower than $0.048 from the previous year.

Wistron said the growth was due to another profit, including foreign exchange earnings of TWD 1.52 billion ($47.8 million). In addition, the revaluation of this company's shares in Luxshare has increased by TWD 535 million (about 16.85 million USD).

Luxshare is also a supplier of Apple products in China. Six production facilities for this unit are located in Vietnam, with three of them in Bac Giang and the other three in Nghe An.

Wistron has already invested about $300 million in Vietnam (not counting the recently granted $24.5 million). Wistron Infocomm Vietnam Co., Ltd. is the first member of Wistron in Vietnam, operating in the field of manufacturing monitors and computer peripherals. However, this unit is not yet an Apple supplier.

Wistron Infocomm Vietnam is located in Dong Van III industrial park (Duy Tien, Ha Nam). In July 2022, the factory received a priority enterprise certificate issued by the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The certificate enables the company to be prioritized in customs procedures, inspection and supervision of exported and imported goods. Wistron Infocomm Vietnam is the first company in Ha Nam province to achieve this certificate. As for Wistron Technology Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), Wistron's newly established subsidiary, is expected to pour $24.5 million as mentioned above, which has not been registered in Vietnam.

Wistron is the first business to build an iPhone assembly plant in India. However, recently, the media said that Wistron is about to sell the third production line to Tata Group after selling 2 factories to rival Luxshare. In 2020, Wistron also stopped assembling iPhones in China, selling part of the line to Luxshare.
